Häfele MicroApart 20/30 – star of the BAU

Thinking ahead for more life per m²:

Häfele’s trade fair booth on the theme of “More life per m2” was the star of the show at the BAU 2017 international trade fair for the building industry. Häfele’s space-saving ideas for the buildings of the future received extensive coverage in the trade press and the mass media, including German television and some of Germany’s leading newspapers. Best known as a supplier of hardware fittings and electronic access control systems, Häfele showed off its 360° comprehensive project solutions in the form of a modular, scalable micro-apartment concept. The “MicroApart 20/30” model provided the industry with ample food for thought on how to create smart, multi-functional living concepts for tiny spaces – one of the biggest architectural challenges of our time. “With the MicroApart 20/30, we’re offering solutions to the increasing scarcity and expense of living space in urban centres. We’ve caught the spirit of the times perfectly. It’s a key political and social issue right now, of interest to investors, builders, planners and developers alike. The many conversations we had and enquiries we received over the course of six days at the show confirmed this,” said Udo Jungebloed, Head of domestic projects, sales and planning department at Häfele.

MicroApart 20/30 was designed in partnership with Dr Krista Blassy, architect, and Carsten Fischer, investor and operator. The tiny apartment offers top-quality living on any budget. Using a grid zone system, the concept is scalable from 20 to 30 m2. MicroApart 20/30 represents architectural downsizing with added quality and value. These small apartments cost less to build, consume less energy and are easier to maintain.

Other featured topics on the Häfele booth included:

Smart storage space management for hotel rooms

On show were smart storage solutions ranging from versatile wall panels to open and walk-in closets. Foldaway luggage racks, neat wardrobes or spacious dressing rooms? Start by analysing the needs of each hotel. Then the right cabinet solution can be developed and expertly crafted.

International hotel assortment: One Room. One Face.

The “International hotel assortment” gate presented an exclusive selection of over 200 mutually compatible and globally available fittings and accessories for the international hospitality industry. This product range makes it easy to select systems and accessories that are well matched in appearance and design – from lever handles to coat hooks to furniture handles. “One Room. One Face.” as Häfele puts it.

Door systems: Dialock for smartphone key and room management

Comfort starts at the front door. Häfele complete door systems are developed in partnership with various system partners as all-inclusive package solutions available in any quantity from one upwards. Among the systems on show at BAU 2017 was the upgraded hotel room door that can now be opened with a smartphone. Häfele is thinking beyond simple access control with Dialock, an innovative, networked identification and access control system that connects to the hotel’s room management system and lets guests use their smartphone as a key. By offering enhanced security with lower installation costs, the system benefits hoteliers and guests alike.
